Two pieces off to Exhibition

Hydrangea-revisited    18.5" X 12.75"
I started by hand inking the background fabric. I like to use Tsukineko inks.

Several cottons fabrics and various fancy fabrics were used for the flower petals. Above is a photo of the first layer. Below you can see how it fills out and the added depth with multiple added layers.

The piece is machine and hand stitched. The petals are hand applied fabric squares in many shades. The shades were achieved with the use of paint and markers. Turned edge binding. The finished quilt is mounted on artist board.

Above are my inspiration photos for this piece.

Fireworks Over Wilderness Cove    36" X 19"
Machine piecing, hand stitching, and embroidery.
A collection of cottons and fancy fabrics including various nettings. Paint. Jewelry pieces. Angelina fibers, and various threads.
This piece is really hard to photograph because it is so dark but in person the glitter of the fireworks helps make it pop.

Both of these pieces are in a show called, Color and Texture- Exploration in Fiber. The show is part of the Addison Art program, now at Addison Conference and Theater Center, running through April 17, 2024.

I hope you enjoyed my pieces.
