Today's post is my first big quilt finish of the year. A fun log cabin quilt from 1930's prints. I love 30's prints! When I shop hop or travel a few little 30's prints are always my souvenir. So anytime I use 30's prints in quilts they become a memory quilt for me as well.
I'm not big on saving UFO's but this quilt sat as just a top for way too long! I was really not looking forward to quilting such a large quilt on my domestic machine. It was a project to quilt it but I love how it finally looks all done and on the bed!!
The quilt measures 94" X 81". Each log cabin block is approximately 5.75" square. The latticework border is 6" wide and meets with an additional piano key border.
And, here is that quilting I was so worried to start. The backing is flannel, and puffs nicely. I used Lori Kennedy's Nora's Rose design ( Free-motion Machine Quilting 1-2-3, by Lori Kennedy) for the bulk of the quilt.
The Latticework border is my meandering leaf design and the piano key border is just meandering design. I love the Nora Rose design and it was really was easy once I finally got started.
I like to keep a neutral bedspread on the bed and then fold my quilts across the foot of the bed for display. This makes it easy to rotate quilts and easy to pull up over the bed for use.I hope everyone is having a great day!
Thanks for stopping,
MaryEllen
