Photo Transfer Ideas

This post is about experimenting and remembering that not every project is going to be perfect but all projects can be a learning moment.

 Finished pieces 4" X 6"
My original goal was to transfer my photos to fabric with a method  using white glue.
My photos were printed on standard copy paper using an inkjet printer.
Above is a photo showing me painting a thick layer of glue over my
photo.
Here I am using a rolling pin to flatten a piece of white cotton over the photo that is covered with glue.
Above is a photo of the glued photo drying to the fabric.
This is a photo of trying to peel of the paper with photo off the white fabric on two of the pieces.
To do this I dampened the paper and rubbed lightly at the paper with my fingers, pulling off the paper and printed image.
In the end most of the print came of with the paper leaving just shadow on the fabric.
I decided to try and save the project by adding embroidery detail.
On the third piece I tried soaking the piece. This time the glue seemed to dissolve and I saved the whole paper copy.
I think what went wrong was I tried to use an inkjet printer instead of a laser printer.   The end result wasn't what I wanted but it was a fun learning experiment and I think the pieces will be a cute addition to my art journal.

I hope everyone is having a wonderful day!
