Baby, baby -baby quilts

I saw this cute Forest Friends fabric by Audrey Jeanne Roberts for 3Wishes Fabrics and I was in love, I had to pick it up! I got a yard of the small woodland animals print as well as the trees which was a coordinating fabric. (I also used a few fabrics from my stash).
The focal fabric is a repeating pattern of of four cute little forest animals each one appr. 4" square.

Quilt #1
For quilt #1 I was inspired by the Courthouse Steps block.  This is a very simple adaption using just two rows around one of the little animal fabric square.  The strips are 2".  I then used a 1.25" sashing around each block.
The finished quilt is 41" X 41".  Flannel backing.  Meandering quilting done on my domestic machine.

Quilt #2

For quilt #2 I was inspired by the log cabin block. Again the block design is very simple this time with just one pass around each animal fabric square and then a sashing of the light blue fabric.  The fun thing about this block is that with the proper fabric choices you can get this wonderful 3-D effect. I love it because it makes you feel like your looking out the window to all those cute little animals.
Along with the animal squares this piece uses 2.5" fabric strips. The quilt finishes at 48.5" X 39.5". Flannel backing. Quilted with a meandering design on my domestic machine.

I hope you are enjoying a wonderful day!
