It's all about the quilting. Easy Machine Quilting

I think most quilters would agree there is nothing better than seeing a quilt hanging out over a fence airing in the warm sunshine!
Today's quilt is just a quick baby quilt.  Made with  9-patch blocks using 2.5" squares (2" finished), borders are 3.5" wide.  The piece finishes at 48" X 48".  The patchwork top is all scrap materials, with a flannel backing.
The real story here is I tried a new machine quilting design.
I do all my quilting on my domestic machine, a Janome 6500.
I love my machine!  However, since I use a domestic machine I tend to keep the quilting simple (lots of variations of meandering stitches, etc.) I tend to get a little nervous getting super small scaled or complicated. For me I start to lose sight of the whole design since I see such a small piece as I work. But it's getting boring and I get so many ideas I've decided I need to practice some new things.
Some different designs and some different ways to achieve them. After all practice  makes prefect or at least practice makes one more confident.

Blue lines represent the first quilting design done with my walking foot.
Red lines show the first pass of quilting done with free free motion foot.
These were done in one long continuous S shaped lines, down and then up each row.

Second pass of free motion quilting finishing the design.
A meandering design was added to the borders.
I already have some great ideas for how I want to elaborate on this basic quilting design, so look for updates in future posts
Hope your day is wonderful!
