Heirloom Bouquet

Today's piece is current challenge for Art Quilters Around the World.  The topic for this challenge was "Layers."

Inspiration photo

The first layer of my piece is the gray/blue velvet background fabric.
The velvet had been a bit to close to some dye action and has some great pinkish smudges.
I added the embossed  circles with a circle template and iron.

I then made a variety of fabric flowers. Flowers are in a variety of fabrics for a rich texture effect.
Fabrics include: velvet, silk, satin, cotton, sari cord, very loose weave poly, tulle netting.
Yo-yo's, beads, buttons, ribbon, marker and hand stitching as well a some machine stitching were then added.
All the flowers are hand stitched on, but I did add some hot melt glue for extra stability.

Hope you are having a great day!
