Hi everyone!
I spent some time today reorganizing my stash of finished quilts and I thought I'd pass on how it all turned out.
I had been storing my quilts folded up into plastic tubs. Not a bad system, I guess, but.....? We have moved and stored in plastic boxes did help to keep the quilts clean, and all in one spot. But, since each box contained several quilts every time I wanted one I had to do some digging. I was also seeing a lot of fold lines and creases on the quilts. My new system is to have "most" of my quilts hanging.
The closet goes back a bit and it is FULL. As you can see I have the quilts on heavy hangers. They are folded with the backings showing. The blue on the hangers are pool noodles cut to fit the hangers. Hopefully, the noodles will help the quilts from developing a sharp fold where they go over the hanger. I love the way the system looks and how easy it is to find things. The quilts are folded multiple times so I will need to refold each quilt occasionally and/or change the system from time to time. For now the quilts are in a space that is out of direct sun light, safer form over handling, and in a clean space with little dust challenges. I may look for tissue to cover each quilt to help with dust protection. If and when I go back to boxes I will be looking for acid free archival boxes ( at least for my most special quilts).
