Fall Table Runner

 Hi Everyone!

Today's quilt is a table runner for the up coming fall/Thanksgiving season.

I think I'll name this one - Dining Under the Trees.

This was definitely a scrap fabric project.  My original plan was to do a candy corn theme table runner. However, I just didn't have the right shades of orange and yellows to do candy corn.  I did have a nice assortment of darker oranges and rusts that really said FALL. These colors are much closer to the beautiful fall foliage colors I so love this time of year.  So Trees it all became.

After pulling all my fabrics I did a photo that I then changed it to a gray scale on my photo's photo edit app.  I wanted to make sure I had a nice mix of shades. I also wanted the colors balanced appropriately throughout my design.

I started by making strip sets with the orange and rust fabrics.  I then made a triangle shape on stiff paper for a template.  Each triangle/"tree" is 5-2" strips. For fun I added  "branches" in brown and green.  The "branches" are 1 and 1/8" wide, and added to selected trees. Two sets of rows of trees were made and stitched together down the center length of the piece. The "background" border was cut from various tans and beige fabrics, and added to the two long edges. The tree trunks seen in the background border were also cut at 1 and 1/8" wide.

The finished piece is 18.5" X 60".  I used flannel as a batting. The backing is cotton.  I machine quilted it in a meandering design with Superior rainbow thread. It was quilted on my domestic machine.
Happy fall!
Hope you are having a wonderful day!
