I enjoyed trying the technique and I think I will use it again. I would like to see what would happen using a more contemporary choice of flowers. I realize the flowers and colors of this piece seem a bit dated but they are sentimental to me. It's also a bit of a period piece.

Working with the artificial flowers was an interesting project. It was easy working with these flowers because the shapes were all pre-cut for me and there was very little fraying. Each flower had wonderful texture lines that I has able to follow with free motion quilting. The flowers were also firm enough for me to work in 3-D while they still held their shape.
Commercial batik for background, vintage lace, ribbon, vintage lace and embroidered doily, artificial flowers. Machine quilted on my domestic machine, hand embroidery details.
The piece is wrapped around a 14" X 14" artist canvas.
Flowers before starting

I hope you enjoyed this new work. It was fun finally using these flowers. I really enjoy the bright spring piece that developed.
This piece is now a special memory quilt for me.
