Fireworks

This is a follow up post on my piece in the Textile Centers members show.
(I wanted to wait to post pictures till after the show's opening.)

FIREWORKS was a lot of fun to work on! Anytime I can go all out on embellishments it's a fun day. Below is a photo of FIREWORKS now on display at the Textile Center.

This piece is a combination of paint, netting, jewelry pieces, angelina fibers, beads, hand embroidery and fancy fabrics on a background of black fabrics which have been pieced together and highlighted with paint and machine stitches.  The piece has a black binding and is quilted on my domestic sewing machine.  It is mounted on a painted artist canvas.
I used a variety of  curved lines made with hand stitching and embellishments to give a feeling of movement. I also used lots of sparkle for that pop that all good fireworks need to have
.
Here are two detail shots.

I love being a part of this wonderful show. This is the forth time I've had a piece in a Textile Center member show.
