A Christmas Candy Quilt

It's really starting to look like Christmas round the  house. The snow is falling in big, wet, fluffy flakes and inside the fireplace is going strong. Inside the house the decorations are all out. Each year it's such a walk down memory lane to go through the ornaments.  What a joy remembering the special times with friends and family through the years.

Today's quilt is one I made back in 2012.   This candy cane themed quilt seems to have become a tradition as well. Here it is hanging in the dining room from grandmas quilt frame. On the table is a snowman I made years ago driving his sled filled with odds an ends of Christmas goodies.

The pattern I used was "How Sweet It is" by Deborah A. Hobbs for McCall's Quilting 2010.
Her design was for a baby quilt in soft blues and pinks, really cute! I love the way the wrapper ends are 3D!

I however, was thinking  Christmas when making this design. In particular all the wonderful Christmas candies we enjoy each year.  So I added pieced candy canes and some fun rick-rack as a complementary border design.

The finished candy cane blocks are 9 1/4" X 6 3/4".

One more look at my finished quilt.
I hope your enjoying the season in a warm and wonderful quilt!
